Description

Rattan is an eco-friendly material that is usually bent or woven, but is rarely carved except when it needs to be joined with another rattan. However, the inner part of rattan that has been carved can actually be exposed to increase the aesthetic and the function of the product.

RUKI tries to expose the maximum potential of rattan by using two traditional manufacturing techniques: bending and carving. This product portrays how the imperfection of craftsmanship can actually be accentuated to make the product more unique. It not only highlights the sustainable materials but also uplifts the local craftsmanship.
